Sport Angling : The heat is On ! The 2008 opening match

Kingfisher Sports Fishing Association “Magical start to season 2008”.

FORTY, KSFA members began the 2008 Doubles Match League season with a tremendous start. 6.30am, the sound of the marshal’s whistle broke the early morning silence, followed by the sound of whipping rods, with lines and leads cast out to unbelievable distances.

Soon after the word spread that the anglers in section D had started to catch silver bream at a rate of 2 a cast, this is where the technical aspect of the sport kicks in with anglers fighting hard against the clock to catch as many fish possible before the shoal moves on to the next section. It was five hours later that the whistle blew again to stop the match, which had all anglers anxiously waiting for their weights to be taken.

The winners to this competition are not only rewarded trophies but also vouchers by KSFA sponsor MR Fish. The league is run on a point system which determines the overall 2008 Champion team.

The day’s results included a total of 3KG 150 grams of bogue (vopi) caught by team Sharks\ Clayton Camilleri and Mario Marlow, these placed first with 5 points. Second place went to team Boxing Shrimp\ David Tabone and Freddy Cassar with 3 KG of wrasse and bream, third on the day were team Bolognese\ Steve Johnston and Stefan Borg with 2KG 120 grams of silver bream. The total amount of fish caught on the day was 20.52 kilograms, which were all returned back alive to fight another day.For further details please visit the clubs website at www.ksfamalta.org.
