Freddie Cassar wins the fourth Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association Singles Grauvell match with 2.7 Kgs. As usual the fishing competition started at 6.00 am sharp. Some well sized breams were immediately noticed during the first hour. Various line cuts added tension to some anglers. The Sliema venue, having a predominant sandy bed saw a numbers of solenettes (lingwati) catches. These added to the weight of the anglers but was not enough to keep up with Freddie Cassar’s multiple mullet catch. Apart from the nice mullet Godfrey Farrugia caught a well sized gurnard and placed second with 1.95 Kg. The youngest angler Stephan Borg (17) made his way through to third place with 1.67 Kg catching a large number of damselfish and striped breams. A very unusual fish caught during the match was the razorfish (rosetta) that was caught in the deeper waters near tigne. Photos of the match can be viewed on our web site www.ksfamalta.org. This match was sponsored by Mr. Fish.
