How long have you been a paid up member with KSFA?
Since 2003

Any Personal Records? Biggest fish caught?

My biggest fish in competitions is an 800gms sawrella tal-Imperjal which I caught during the 2003 National Federation Championship at Senglea port.

Finished 5th in the first year competing with KSFA and 10th overall in the Malta Federation League.

Winning 11 trophies in my first year was a dream for me!

How do you prepare yourself prior to an event/ competition? Bait, rigs?

I always prepare my own tackle. Preferably I  prefers to catch and prepares my own bait to make sure that I always have good bait available.

In the doubles league I partners with Chris Mizzi.

Home made rods are also becoming a favorite since I can always design a rod according to my tastes.

Your favorite competition location? Why?
I have to say Senglea. In Senglea there's always a good chance of catching nice sized breams,
Gilthead or Red mullets.

Your favorite “fun fishing” location?

I also love wading out in a mossy sea on a sandy beach especially under Dellimara lighthouse with a pole rod for mullet. However, sometimes in Summer time I love paying a visit to one of my most favorite locations – Wied Znuber with a couple of friends and fish for parrot fish with pole rods.

Your favorite fish? Why?
I have to say gilthead breams, pagell and red mullet when caught casting

Your favorite fishing method?

I tend to try all kinds of fishing. Fishing for mullet, parrot fish, xilep, pagell on light tackle. I think fishing for
griewel and mullet in mossy seas is a blast because of the number of fish.
In the last couple of years I am also experiencing good catches using bombarda and running ledger method.

Favorite fishing equipment? Rods, hooks, monofilament, floats etc….?

I prefer home made rods, VMC hooks and Water King or Falcon monos.

Your occupation when not fishing?

Quality Assurance Coordinator, Health & Safety Officer – Delta (Malta) Ltd

Other interests or hobbies?

Camping with family. Die hard Manchester United supporter

What are your thoughts on the future of sport fishing in Malta?

"The KSFA and other local tournaments and competitions encourage the catch and release format, which is very healthy for our sport. I believe that sportfishing is just beginning its growth, and that more and more people will be joining our sport and loving it. It's a very good group of people from many different backgrounds that all have a love for the water and our sport. Once you experience the joy of catching a nice sized fish on a rod and witness the many sights and wonders, especially the rise of the sun in the early days’ hours you can't wait to be fishin again!!!!”

Describe your favorite fish story?

"During summer 1991 I managed to land a 1.5kgs sargu on a 3.9mtr casting rod just off the beach on my small fishing boat using garfish as bait. It was a tremendous experience since I had no landing net and I was still a little boy 16yrs old. I just couldn’t lift the latter inside the boat after some 10 minutes of fighting and trying to bring the sargu closer to the boat………I had to grab the line with my hand and somehow managed to get the fish inside the boat. Thanks god I was fishing with a thick line which did not break!!!!
